Helen Hunt Misidentified as Jodie Foster by Starbucks Barista

And you think you have trouble at Starbucks. Helen Hunt laughed it off on Monday, May 23, after a Starbucks barista misidentified her as Jodie Foster, and then made it worse by misspelling the Taxi Driver star’s name on the cup.

“Ordered my drink @Starbucks,” the Mad About You alum, 52, tweeted along with a pic. “Asked the barista if she wanted my name. She winked and said. ‘We gotcha’ #Jodie Foster.”

The barista then handed Hunt an iced tea with the name “Jody” on it.

To be fair, the pair do resemble each other, and they do have a lot in common — both started out as child stars, both have won Oscars — Hunt for 1997’s As Good As It Gets, while Foster has two for her roles in The Accused and Silence of the Lambs — and they’re close in age (Foster, 53, is just seven months older).

The case of mistaken identity is clearly something Hunt has been dealing with for a number of years. She joked about their resemblance during a 1994 appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, admitting, “A lot have people have said it.”

“Last Thanksgiving it was my job to buy the Thanksgiving turkey, and I was in the supermarket and I got to the checkout counter with my 100-pound turkey, or something, and the guy is checking me out and says, ‘You’re Jodie Foster,'” she told Letterman.

After a lot of “No, I’m not/Yes, you are,” Hunt pulled out her driver’s license and explained which movies she’d starred in.

Finally convinced, the guy at the checkout finished ringing up the groceries and simply said to Hunt, “That’ll be $37.50.”
